GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Primary responsibility is to make sure loading dock is running effectively and efficiently. Manager will report to the Assistant Warehouse Manager to inform them performance issues and any other issues coming from the loading area. Oversee the loaders in this area and ensure that loaders are using proper safety procedures in lifting and tying down merchandise. Enforce all safety guidelines at all times.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
Supervise all loaders; enforce safety in the warehouse; ensure staff is opening and closing the loading dock properly; monitor the loading dock ensuring all customers needs are being met; audit tickets and supervise the entire loading dock; knowledge of all merchandise; enforce all rules and regulations; ensure excellent customer relations; ensure all merchandise is handled with care and with the proper safety precautions; extensive knowledge of tying down loads; oversee Red Desk Operators; schedule loaders and supervisors; ensure staff is maintaining a clean loading dock area;
Performs constant training of team leaders and the rest of the department; ensures that department is maintaining standards established by the Company; Conducts team building and communication exercises as assigned by Organizational Development Team and management; enforces disciplinary actions, conducts reprimands, counseling sessions, and commendations; ensures that all employees are using proper lifting techniques; Provides leadership to support the overall communications between all departments. Delegate’s responsibility appropriately; plans and organizes efficiently and effectively, communicates goals and performance metrics to team members regularly; other duties as directed by management.
Ability to repetitively lift heavy merchandise of 50 lbs; ability to communicate effectively with team members; excellent knowledge of proper tie down and safety procedures; ability to train employees on proper procedures in a positive way; positive attitude when working with both internal and external customers; supervisory experience preferred.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS:
To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, an employee must be able to perform the following: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, climbing, crawling, walking, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing/listening and repetitive motion.
Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 50 lbs frequently, and up to 20 lbs constantly to move objects.
Occasionally works in hot and/or cold temperatures and occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
