Under the general direction of a Registered Nurse, performs a variety of duties in the Operating Room area to assist the surgical team, including scrubbing, preparation and care of instruments, clean up of linen/equipment and instruments, processing surgical instruments, emptying linen and waste bins, and transporting patients and equipment. This position assists with vaginal and cesarean section deliveries. This position is also responsible for performing various nursing care tasks and treatments on assigned patients in Labor and Delivery, Nursery, Post Partum Care and Pediatrics units. Requires the ability to work a flexible/variable schedule, participate in stand-by call and respond to call-in as assigned.
The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma and a minimum of successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program,preferred. Positive references from program instructors are required for new graduates. The position requires a minimum of six months to one-year surgical tech experience in an acute care labor and delivery environment is preferred. Previous experience in direct patient care in an acute care environment is desired.
