The Global Surgery Division of the Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting a Director Cluster Lean Leader. This position can be based in Guaynabo, PR or in any Johnson & Johnson location within the EMEA, NA and LA regions.

Global Surgery encompasses the following franchises; Cordis, Biosense Webster, Ethicon Surgical Care, Mentor, Global Energy, SterilMed, Acclarent and Ethicon Biosurgery.

Under the direction of the VP WW Manufacturing, the Director Cluster Lean Leader manages all aspects of Process Excellence deployment for all the Global Surgery manufacturing plants. Responsible for providing guidance to the Process Excellence Managers/Leaders in their principal responsibilities; effective deployment of continuous improvement methodologies, project portfolio management, scorecard management, lean manufacturing, ME2, Six Sigma, and talent development. Responsible for the Global Surgery business strategy and for the development of the capabilities to execute the strategy. Formulate Process Excellence deployment strategies, as well as the necessary resource requirements and timing. Provides guidance to the PE managers/leaders in their principal responsibilities: Effective deployment of continuous improvement methodologies, Project Portfolio Management, Scorecard management, Do it Right, Lean Manufacturing, ME2, Six Sigma, and Talent development. Develop and implement Process Excellence Training programs and facilitate organizational learning. Foster a Continuous Improvement Culture. Create sustained business improvement results through the application of DMAIC or DMADV. Own the Cost Improvement Program. Serves as consultant in Process Excellence principles to other personnel. Manage the Manufacturing Scorecard, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement. Monitor Manufacturing project portfolio, Certifications, Re-Certifications and Savings on a monthly basis. Follows and observes all regulatory requirements (GMP's, ISO, FDA, internal policies) applicable to area of responsibility. Comply with J&J Safety Requirement and safe working conditions and practices in the department.


Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering. Green Belt Certification required, Black Belt Certification and master degree desirable. A minimum of ten (10) years of manufacturing or process improvement experience. Experience in the regulated industry is highly preferred. At least six (6) years of management experience are required. Experience and exposure to global and matrix organizations preferred. Candidates must be proficient in the English language; fluency and mastery in additional languages highly desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Advanced computer skills and use of software application(s). Thorough understanding of Six Sigma, Design Excellence and Lean Tools. Ability to apply/integrate process excellence methodology into business processes. Requires proven initiative, creativity, assertiveness and leadership abilities. Ability to maintain and improve consistent and sound business processes in a dynamic, cross-cultural environment. The candidate must have strong analytical problem solving and interpersonal skills, leadership, influencing, and presentation skills. Must be able to work under pressure achieving consistently high results through individual and team efforts. Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets common scientific, technical and financial reports. Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets common scientific, technical journals, and financial reports. Position requires availability to travel to domestic and international destinations, fifty percent (50%) of the time. Physical requirements of the position includes use of personal computer and other systems, light to moderate walking, visual inspection, bending and stretching.

If a Puerto Rico-based candidate is selected, the following requirement will apply: a valid driver's license, with a clean driving record are required (A clean driving record is considered one that does not have any combination of three or more violations or accidents, while the vehicle was in movement in the past three years or any combination of three or more violations or accidents, while the vehicle was moving, within any 6-month period). The eligibility assessment is based on the date(s) of the actual violations versus when the conviction occurred.
