Supports the FedEx Ground facility maintenance effort by performing standard preventative maintenance procedures through basic maintenance processes and techniques used to diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, and control systems.
Performs assigned basic preventative maintenance work ensuring all instructions are followed and that each step is fully executed according to FedEx Ground standards.
Responds to sort calls for maintenance, diagnosing the failure and making required repairs.
Develops and demonstrates knowledge of proper basic troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and repair basic mechanical, electrical, control system problems. This includes but is not limited to: reading and interpreting shop drawings, electrical schematic diagrams and operation/maintenance manuals.
Develops knowledge of the operation and maintenance of the bar code readers, all components of the SWAK (Barcode Reader) network, the IC (Incompatible) and scan tunnel dimensioning equipment.
Learns and uses the CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) to enter and retrieve activity log information and reports.
High School Diploma or GED required; Associates degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical, or maintenance engineering technology preferred

Required Skills - Abilities and/or Licensure:
Fundamental computer skills, including use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Lotus Notes and the Internet
Developing knowledge of motors and motor control methods
Developing skills in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting techniques
Developing the ability to weld, burn, and solder
Develop ability to read electrical and mechanical schematic diagrams
Ability to work evenings and weekends required
