Position Description

Under minimal supervision, performs advanced to highly complex graphic design work for books, book covers, corporate publications, outreach material, brochures, presentations, web pages, etc., while regularly exercising discretion and judgment. Renders complex ideas and datasets into comprehensible visuals and infrographics. This creative problem-solver will interact with authors throughout the development process of reports and graphics. Will create, design, and review layouts for visual graphics productions. Candidates will need an understanding of visual/document preparation with a knowledge of multiple publication disciplines as well as how to construct budgets for projects and monitor the use of available hours for completion of projects on-time and at or below budget. Photography, a demonstrated understanding of web design principles, and experience developing and implementing multimedia online all a plus.

A portfolio of examples will be requested upon interview. Successful candidate must have demonstrated skill and minimum of five years experience in developing original designs for collateral materials and book covers and creating business graphics.


Must be familiar with Macintosh and Windows platforms and be able to perform cross-platform conversions.

Advanced knowledge of desktop publishing software layout techniques and experience with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, and/or other graphics-related software.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint a plus.

Education Requirements

BA in related field preferred


5-10 years

Security Clearance

U.S. citizenship is required in order to obtain a DoD security clearance.
