Fortune 500 company looking for a Linux/Unix Administrator with significant practical experience and expertise. Incumbent will participate and/or facilitate software deployments, upgrades, capacity planning, backup strategies, and software/hardware integration planning for systems and applications running on RedHat Linux, VMWare, and Solaris.
The preferred candidate would be responsible for the administration of systems running on RedHat Linux 5 and 6, Solaris, as well as VMWare infrastructure/systems that maintain the operational integrity of WER's systems/technologies located in WER datacenters and Wyndham Worldwide Global Data Centers on a 24x7 basis. Performs daily tasks within the scope of the role including but not limited to: health checks, routine maintenance, review patch/maintenance levels on systems, update and create documentation and proactively support the infrastructure in production and non-production environments. This position also interfaces with 3rd party Managed Services and vendors, as well as in-house IT to support WER's e-commerce systems, specifically for problem, incident and change management.
Provide level 1 & 2 problem and incident response support for the enterprise production and non-production environments as well as for applications and systems within the scope of the Technical Services infrastructure including domestic and global infrastructure components/systems where applicable. This includes on-call support activities and weekend/after hours as required.
Assist IT personnel in a consulting capacity in order to ensure project success.
Continuously improve knowledge base by internally generated research and development initiatives. This includes cross-training team members when required, participating in initial product release and adherence to document standards and practices.
Engage with internal business customers as well as external business partners in solution development scenarios in line with corporate standards and practices.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline or mix of education and experience
Training preferences (licenses, programs or certificates): RedHat Certified, VMWare Certified Professional, and/or Solaris Certified System Administrator is a plus, but not required.

Excellent customer service, communication and technical documentation skills
Knowledge of the SDLC and ability to follow documented processes to deploy software/code within multiple environments
Technical Skills
Experience in building and deploying RedHat Linux 5 and 6, and VMWare 5 systems including assisting in design and project related deployments through non production and production environments.
Familiarity with Solaris 10 and zones is a plus.
NTP, and LDAP management and maintenance
Scripting – Shell, Perl, etc.
Patching using a patching tool like Oracle Ops Center
