Clinical Nurse Researcher

HJF is seeking a Part-Time Clinical Nurse Researcher for the Knee Injury Study in the Physical Therapy Department located at the Malcolm Grow Medical Clinics and Surgery Center (MGMC) at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to MGMC.

The Clinical Nurse Researcher will serve as the site coordinator and the intervention manager at Malcolm Grow Medical Clinics and Surgery Center (MGMC), under the direct supervision of the principal investigator and on site PIs. As such the Nurse Researcher will be responsible for the day-to-day operations at MGMC for the duration of the project. This individual will be sure the recruitment, intervention, and testing at MGMC are consistent with protocols and coordinate with the study team University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC).

The Clinical Nurse Researcher will participate in the weekly research meetings and be available for other ad hoc meetings as needed. The Clinical Nurse Researcher will maintain subject files for the study. The Clinical Nurse Researcher will be certified in either Basic and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support and maintain a current CITI training certificate.

Responsibilities

  • The Clinical Nurse Researcher’s major coordinator duties will encompass coordination of all aspects of the study at MGMC including:
  • Subject recruitment;
  • Determining subject screening using inclusion/exclusion criteria;
  • Scheduling of training session and clinic visits and follow up for missed visits;
  • Accurate and timely data entry;
  • Perform subject testing;
  • Monitoring subject data for completeness and accuracy;
  • Provide all aspects of the intervention and monitoring consistency between study sites;
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Teaching the interventions;
  • Monitoring of participants for adherence;
  • Monitoring and identification of subjects with symptoms that should be referred to care providers;
  • Maintaining compliance with all IRB regulations;
  • Computer skills, word processing and data-based skills are a must;
  • Orientation of project personnel including testers and trainers;.
  • Coordinates and carries out study recruitment;
  • Schedule and oversee telephone/text prompting of participants;
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Additionally the Clinical Nurse Researcher’s responsibilities include all aspects of the implementation of the Nurse managed interventions at MGMC specifically;
  • Training and monitoring participants randomized to the intervention;
  • Teaching participants the intervention, scheduling the training and testing, and training-the-trainers;
  • Teaching the intervention protocols and monitoring participants;
  • Collecting, organizing and analyzing data obtained from the subjects in the intervention;
  • Monitoring for adverse events and consulting with the on-site PI and PI in regards to participant safety issues;
  • Monitoring adherence for all groups
  • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of procedures and techniques necessary for performing a variety of clinical research tasks. Experience with Microsoft Excel & Word, email and Power Point required. Capable of working independently with strong analytical and problem solving skills; Excellent writing skills required; Skilled in multi-tasking, good organizational and communication skills. Able to work independently, to plan and prioritize work with minimal supervision; be productive and produce quality results and exercise good judgment.

    Minimum Education/Training Requirements : Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Master’s degree or PhD is preferred with significant related research experience. Experience with intervention trials, data management and working with study participants will be an added advantage.

    Minimum Experience : 2-4 years clinical healthcare experience with at least 1 year in clinical research preferred.

    OR

    Certification as a Certified Clinical Trial Investigator (CCTI), Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC), or Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) from the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) or the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA).

    Required License: Licensed as a registered nurse. Must have human subjects training

    Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior approval of the Vice President of Human Resources certificate from CITI online training.
