The American Academy of Ophthalmology is hiring a ProgrammerAnalyst 2 in their IT Department The American Academy of Ophthalmology is the worlds largest association of eye physicians and surgeons Eye MDs with more than 32000 members worldwide We are headquartered in San Francisco Our organization is home to more than 180 dedicated employees whose goal is to advance the lifelong learning and professional interests of ophthalmologists and to ensure that the public receives the very best possible eye care The ProgrammerAnalyst 2 designs develops maintains and supports web and clientserver product services and core systems The ProgrammerAnalyst 2 also has responsibilities for performing project management duties on small to midsized projects including requirements gathering Most projects last 2 months or less This position is a part of a team of 5 total ProgrammerAnalysts who all report to the Application Development Manager The IT division has 17 full time staff Candidates must have strong skills with VBNET C ASPNET relational databases and communicating with internal staff or customers Prefer experience with SQL Server DotNetNuke OOP agile development methodologies and developing multitier customerfacing web applications Other helpful technologylanguage skills include CSS AJAX Web Services XML JavaScript Entity Framework Linq Microsoft Windows Responsibilities Application Development Prototyping applications Developing applications from specifications Maintenance and enhancement of current applications Project Management Gathering requirements Feature negotiation Maintaining project schedules Planning marshalling and management of project resources Core systems product support Answer enduser technical and usability questions Work with product vendors to resolve issues with commercial products Provide business process support Technical Documentation Document architecture of internally developed projects Document interactions between systems Technical Consultation Provide technical input on proposed projects Provide technical input on computer based product or service selection Skills and Requirements 5 plus years of application development and support experience Experience should include significant experience developing multitier customerfacing web applications using OOP Strong knowledge of Internet formats and languages Must have strong skills in VBNET or C and ASPNET Prefer DotNetNuke skills Desirable technologylanguage skills include Linq Entity Framework JavaScript CSS XML JavaScript Microsoft Windows Experience with clientserver relational databases and reporting tools Prefer strong skills with MS SQL Server Experience gathering requirements and writing project specifications and supporting documentation Experience with web development tools and clientserver product support Experience managing and accessing data Experience with quality assurance policies and procedures Experience with clientserver databases and reporting tools Effective verbal and written communication skills Project management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks Knowledge of full lifecycle and agile application development methodologies Analytical skills in technical analysis business requirement analysis and product research and analysis Negotiation skills for feature sets and problem resolution BS in Management of Information Systems or Computer Science or equivalent education and experience We are no able to sponsor any Visas VB.NET / C#, ASP.NET, CSS, AJAX, Web Services, XML, JavaScript
