Responsible for high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations and servers. Coordinates, directs and performs complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Continually monitors and tunes multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities. Ensures data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Plans and implements the modernization of servers. Develops, implements and promotes standard operating procedures and schedules. Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Incumbent develops and implements new standards, policies and procedures. Incumbent in this job works closely with Network and Systems Analysts to help determine and develop the systems that will be implemented.
Required Skills :
Minimum 7 years experience managing a combination of corporate network and network services.
Minimum 7 years experience with system administration of at least one of the following operating systems: Windows server 2003/2008, and Enterprise Linux distribution (e.g. Red Hat, Suse, Mandriva)
Candidate must have some experience with at least one infrastructure virtualization technology (e.g. VMWare, Citrix XenServer, Microsoft Hyper-V), but prefer a candidate with a strong background in VMWare.
Prefer a candidate familiar with at least one SAN technology.
Prefer candidate to have strong networking background with specific experience on Cisco IOS and familiarity with configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches
Prefer candidate has experience configuring and managing corporate Firewalls of at least one variety.
Prefer candidate has experience supporting both Microsoft and Linux environments.
Prefer candidate that possesses one or more relevant certifications (e.g. CCNA, MCSE, CISSP, etc).
Degree : Bachelors Degree preferred or an Associates Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
