DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for the function of the Accounting team in the Controllers absence- also assists in the planning and directing of team activities in addition to analyzing financial information and making appropriate recommendations based on accounting knowledge and experience. The candidate for this position will ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met.

DUTIES

Develop and implement policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget and accounting; Manage, train and assist in supervision of subordinate support personnel; Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards; Develop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and non-organizational accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities; Analyze the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed; Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies and actions; Provide direction and assistance to other departments regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources; Maintain and create dual financial statements for company purposes and tax purposes; Reconcile and maintain monthly spreadsheets for commissions, sales goals, catalog and budget/projection; Be accountable for the timely submission of projects, reports and data.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or associated field required; in lieu of this requirement, a degree in similar field(s) together with applicable 5 years related experience acceptable (CPA preferred); Ability to construct, analyze and interpret financial information; Ability to effectively communicate via various methods including telephones, email and intra/internet and possess effective letter writing skills; Ability to work well under time constraints and high levels of stress; Ability to perform essential job functions in a manner requiring indirect supervision; Ability to demonstrate functionality to effectively perform essential job functions.
