Department of Neurosciences The Department of Neurosciences at the Medical University of South Carolina is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position focused on epilepsy. Applicants should have relevant training in molecular, cellular or systems neuroscience, a Ph.D or M.D, and an excellent record of research productivity. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong background in neurophysiology that are using new technologies and animal models to understand the biological underpinnings of epilepsy . Applicants with expertise in advanced imaging methods, genetically encoded sensors or light-activated ion channels are especially encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant will work closely with the MUSC Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, a translational research unit that bridges both clinical and research domains. The Center boasts an active epilepsy neurosurgery program that provides resected human epileptic tissue, intracranial human EEG data, as well as advanced experimental and clinical imaging resources. Startup packages for individual investigators will include a generous budget for all equipment needs. For qualified candidates, endowed chairs in neuroscience are available.
