GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Systems Architect has several key areas of focus:

- Design, analysis, programming, testing and implementation of large & complex systems.

- Frequently serving as lead person in a project team environment with responsibility for directing the day-to-day project related activities of team members.

This position will build on the technical strengths of the associate. The breadth and depth of the systems and technologies they support will increase as their technical skills increase. Although leadership is an important skill of this position, management activities related to personnel and the user community is not emphasized in this position. A significant majority of these requirements must be accomplished to meet the overall requirements of the position.

Technical Knowledge

- With direction from supervisor, be capable of leveraging new and existing technology in solutions that add value to the business.

- Considerable breadth and depth of knowledge on the application development tool set and system architecture within the assigned platform.

- Considerable breadth and depth of knowledge of application systems within assigned platform and business area.

- Considerable breadth and depth of knowledge of the assigned areas technical infrastructure.

- Able to architect tightly integrated and complex systems for their assigned area.

- Specialist in language and tools of the technical platform used in their area.

Evaluations and Recommendations
- Conduct assigned research regarding new and existing technologies.
- With direction from supervisor, be capable of developing cost/benefit analysis which may be used in preparing an AFE.

Business Knowledge
- Thorough understanding of their assigned business area.
- Good ability to identify the use of technology to move the business forward and to sell the ideas to the appropriate decision makers.

Leadership Skills
- Able to give direction to others with assistance from their supervisor.
- Provide input to associate performance reviews and counseling sessions.
- Involved in the assessment of the technical talent of current and prospective associates.
- Through nurturing and mentoring, build the technical talent of those in their area
- Act as an advisor to the IS Department

- Able to execute the tasks outlined in a formal project plan and report progress against the plan.

- Able to lead major upgrades of systems and software tools.

- Able to act as lead architect on the design and construction of large systems.

Qualifications
:
EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or Business; or two year technical degree + relevant experience.

EXPERIENCE:
·


7 to 9 years in Information Systems related experience.
·
3 years of experience on assigned technical platforms or systems.
·
Prior experience in major software development activities.
