Transportation Engineer/Analyst (Job Number: 321815)
SAIC’s Transportation Solutions and Technology Applications (TSAT) Division is currently seeking intern, entry-level, and experienced candidates for the following positions:
Transportation Engineer – The candidate will support a variety of projects and technical products related to transportation safety and traffic operations. The candidate will be responsible for relating with local, State, Federal and private customers (including the U.S. Department of Transportation and Department of Defense) and producing deliverables that could include technical memoranda, guidebooks, research reports, and presentations.
Transportation Communications Specialist – The candidate will support the development of communications, outreach and/or marketing strategies for local, state, regional and/or national government initiatives that aim to influence and change behavior of the general public and/or professionals (i.e., transportation engineers). Job responsibilities could include creating summaries, reports and briefings of technical and/or research reports for technical and lay audiences; writing and organizing content for web sites and promotional materials for various technical programs; conceptualizing and working with web/graphic designers to develop podcasts and multi-media content (including videos); and drafting content for articles in technical and general media publications, newsletters, knowledge and technology transfer materials.
Research Analyst/Intern – The candidate will help to support transportation analysis, data collection, systems engineering, and reporting activities. Intern candidates would be expected to work on a full time basis during the summer of 2013, with a potential opportunity to continue in a limited, part-time basis during the subsequent academic year.
Transportation Planner – The candidate may support projects under contract to the U.S. Department of Transportation, state departments of transportation, and the National Academies of Science. Work may include researching and writing guidebooks and brochures to facilitate adoption of emerging approaches and/or incorporating best practices and lessons learned, assistance in developing workshops and webinars, and other activities that assist regional planners and operators to adopt new approaches and effectively plan for operations. Activities involve regular interaction with clients, project management, and business development.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 majoring in a related field.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and work independently with limited direction.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and strong ability to multi-task.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications and technologies. Additional skills as required by position.

Working toward a Bachelor or advanced degree in a related field or a recent graduate of an accredited institution of higher education.
