About the Position: This position is under the supervision of the Associate Director for the Research Business Group located in RDTA-RS; R4C.
The Research Business Group leads many of the Army Future Force Science and Technology Objectives. It is responsible for leading research in not only combat and tactical vehicle technology, but also for a wide variety of logistics equipment, water generation and purification, fuels and lubricants, military bridging, countermine equipment, and much more.

You will serve as Engineering Technician responsible for test and evaluation projects for research, development and engineering of vehicle systems, subsystems and components, such as performing durability testing of trailers and Army vehicles using the Pintle Motion Base Simulator and re-configurable electro-hydraulic simulators. Work with servo-hydraulic control and optimization including 3-stage valves, actuators and Servo-controllers. Performs equipment maintenance including repair, troubleshoot, align, test, adjust, modify, and program complex equipment such as servo-hydraulic controllers, amplifiers, circuit boards and hardware. The design and fabrication of test fixtures, brackets, actuators, accumulators and associated hydraulic lines are those that are necessary for re-configurable multi-axial simulators and the project/system being tested. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: Qualified candidates must possess skill and experience in the design and fabrication of test fixtures, brackets, actuators, accumulators and associated hydraulic lines necessary for re-configurable multi-axial simulators and the project/system being tested. Initiate calibration schedules for electronic equipment such as load cells, accelerometers, strain gages, amplifiers and other instrumentation. Conducting experiments, simulator closed loop control tuning, data acquisition and analysis. Perform hydraulic set-up, calibration and servo-hydraulic control and tuning including 3-stage valves, actuators and Servo-controllers. Responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring projects for research, development and engineering of vehicle systems, subsystems and components, such as performing durability testing of Army vehicles using the N-Post re-configurable electro-hydraulic simulators. Maintains, modifies, troubleshoots and repairs test equipment. Performs equipment maintenance including repair, troubleshoot, test, adjust, modify, and program complex equipment such as servo-hydraulic controllers, amplifiers, circuit boards and minor repair of hardware. Designs, develops, fabricates, sets up and operates complex laboratory apparatus used to collect, measure, and record data associated with the testing of vehicle systems, subsystems, or components.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Candidates resume must identify one year of specialized experience and training that provided: Comprehensive practical knowledge of engineering concepts, principles, methods, and practices in order to expand and/or modify established engineering techniques in the test and evaluation of new and modified tank-automotive subsystems and components for the RDE Center. Familiarity with electrical, electronic and industrial engineering in order to solve test and evaluation problems in these areas. Substantive knowledge of measurement techniques, instruments and transducer theory and applications for improving existing methods. Specialty requires general knowledge of tracked/wheeled vehicle design and vehicle operating conditions and special factors associated with military and government operations. Knowledge and ability to design, develop, fabricate, setup, maintain and modify laboratory apparatus, test fixtures, etc, used in standard and nonstandard testing of tank-automotive equipment which involves operating a variety of shop machines and tools.

One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled.
