MAJOR JOB DUTIES:
The purpose of this position is to exercise second level and/or higher supervisory and managerial authorities over the Software Engineering Division.

Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Software Engineering Division.

Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.

Represents the Software Engineering Division with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.

Basic Requirements

A. Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships) ; (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

OR

B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated in the following:

1. Professional Registration;

2. Written Test (Engineering-in-Training, EIT);

3. Specified Academic Courses;

4. Related Curriculum.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
At least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the next lower grade of GS-14 or equivalent.

Specialized experience must include skill in applying general engineering concepts, principles and practices of management, and knowledge of the continuously changing field of automatic test, industrial processes, and Mission Critical Computer Resources (MCCR) to the formation and implementation of directives.

Knowledge of the continuously changing field of automatic test, industrial processes, and Mission Critical Computer Resources (MCCR) to the formation and implementation of directives.

Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices and procedures.

Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.

Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of multiple organization segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.

Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.

:

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

:

This position requires travel which will be performed in accordance with rules specified in the Joint Travel Regulations.

Incumbent will be required to attend classified meetings and have input for organization on advanced weapon systems which will be in pre-production phases and of a classified nature.
