Assists senior leadership in setting the targets, direction, supervision, and accountability associated with clinical quality, process improvement, and employee/patient safety for all Spectrum Health hospitals. Is the accountable senior executive to provide data, interpretation, and recommendations regarding key data elements including, but not limited to HSMR, SSER, HAIs, AHRQ PSIs, Variance reporting, Culture of Safety analytics, Spectrum Health Benchmarked data registries [NSQIP, STS, ACC, Thompson-Reuters]. Leads by example in execution strategies including but not limited to safety huddles, executive rounding, quality/safety story telling, service/safety coaching. Works with Executive Management Team and staff to develop incident mitigation strategies and partners with healthcare staff to produce measurable results in policies and practices. Represents Spectrum Health with external quality/safety agencies, purchasers and stakeholders and proactively communicates internally and externally to educate staff and patients about safety initiatives and activities. Oversees the patient safety program for Spectrum Health Hospitals and provides strategic direction, officer accountability and overall responsibility for its success. Develops the safety culture and identifies opportunities and initiatives to improve and enhance current patient processes and procedures to increase safety. Utilizes Spectrum Health safety data in conjunction with information from Patient Safety Committees, Executive Rounding and other reports to analyze issues and causes. Is responsible for setting the strategic direction for the safety and quality programs for patients and employees. As such, will help establish, sustain, measure, and improve upon organizational reliability generally and clinical quality/patient and employee safety specifically.
Education - Master's Degree in Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) with additional training in quality and safety.
Experience - 10 years of experience in a large group practice and/or an integrated health system ,5 years of experience leadership experience in complex health care organization with demonstrated success in the management of clinical improvement and patient safety
Licenses - Other\Current licensure in Michigan
Education - Ph.D,MD or Professional Degree in M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school, completion of a residency from an accredited institution and board certification
