At Wayfair, we are looking to grow our Systems Engineering team by bringing on board a talented individual to help manage the communications infrastructure that underpins our large-scale Internet e-commerce platform and corporate applications. Though focused on networking, this individual will be a member of our Web Operations team and have exposure to a broad range of infrastructure and technologies. Most of our major projects center around a re-assessment of the web site infrastructure to allow us to distribute load around the world, scale up to handle constant traffic growth, and minimize page load times.
Some of our bigger projects are to:
Scale our data center infrastructure in the USA, Europe, and Australia to provide capacity close to our main customer base
Implement a new IDS infrastructure to improve our ability detect malicious activity targeting our e-commerce platform
Redesign our corporate wireless network to accommodate identity-based access
Integrate network management and provisioning with our standard server automation tools.
Develop and maintain our next generation monitoring platform based on agents and synthetic transactions to provide a holistic top-down view of infrastructure health.
Responsibilities include:
Managing and growing our production data center network which underpins our e-commerce platform
Administering our enterprise wired and wireless network
Troubleshooting communications issues arising between systems or applications
Performing all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
BA or BS degree from a 4-year college or university
Experience with IP routing (EIGRP/OSPF/BGP)
Experience supporting Ethernet switching in both an office and data center environment.
Ability to analyze packet captures (tcpdump/Wireshark)
Familiarity with security policy administration, filter rules, port scanning, and IDS
Familiarity configuring Cisco ASAs and other Cisco IOS-based devices
Scripting ability, especially using shell, C and PHP a large plus
Some knowledge of Linux/BSD and Web Servers (Apache/Lighttpd/Ningx)
