- Tutor students individually or in small groups by reviewing basic math and science concepts, assisting students with homework, aiding students as they review for test, etc. - Tutor students on the use of calculators and other forms of technology that will assist them in the learning process and enable them to become independent learners. - Assist in the checking out of resources in a manner consistent with existing policies. - Answer the telephone, greeting visitors, assist in the administration of placement tests and proctoring of other tests, quizzes, etc. - Assist full time staff and peer tutors with special projects when authorized by Math/ Science Learning Center Director. - Assist in the general upkeep of the center's physical appearance through occasional cleaning and giving proper attention to other items that affect the performance of the Math/ Science Center. - Assist in record keeping, filing, or other clerical duties as needed. - Attend all tutor training sessions and other meetings announced. - Help maintain Math/ Science Center, College Learning Center, UNM Policies and Procedures.
- Customer service skills. - Successful completion of Math 150 with a B average or better. - Recommendation from Math or Science instructor; preferably from UNM- Gallup. - Successful completion of Calc 162 and Chem 111 with a B average or better.
