Job Description:
A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants.

A postdoctoral position is available immediately to study regulatory mechanisms and signaling pathways in obesity and metabolic syndrome. We utilize cell lines, genetically-engineered animal models and clinical samples for these studies. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on research projects involving triglyceride lipases and their regulators, lipid droplet coat proteins, and relevant animal models with altered energy balance and potential to develop type 2 diabetes and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Candidates should hold a PhD and/or MD, and have a strong research background in molecular and cell biology. Past experience with rodent animals is preferable but not required. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and demonstrate a passion for science, innovative thinking and the ability to work independently and effectively.

Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
