The Staff Risk Assessor will provide technical support on Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) projects, including remedial investigations and removal actions. Location: This position can be located in one of multiple offices including Knoxville, TN, Marietta, GA, Chantilly, VA, Portland, OR, Minneapolis, MN, or Westford, MA Accountabilities/Responsibilities: Applicant must be: · Experienced in developing and preparing human health risk assessments for MEC sites; · Knowledgeable of DOD, Federal and state regulations and guidance, including EM 2001-1-4, EM 1110-1-4009, AR 200-1, EPA 540/1-89/002, EPA 50/G-89/004, dealing with Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC), munitions constituents (MC) risk assessment that adheres to the requirements of CERCLA and NCP; · Experienced with USEPA human health and ecological risk assessment / statistical protocol; · Able to work independently; · Able to perform data reduction activities and conduct computer assisted research activities; · Able to communicate effectively; and · Able to physically support field activities. Additional responsibilities include: · Responsible for developing risk assessment technical approach and cost estimates, development of preliminary remedial goals, report writing, and presenting MEC/MC risk assessment approaches and findings to project stakeholders; · Conducting statistical analysis, toxicological evaluations, develop statistical background values and background comparisons and develop exposure pathways and receptors.

  • Providing technical and field support for environmental investigations/remediation projects requiring technical oversight and reporting; · Evaluating, analyzing and interpreting technical data relative to developing project-specific cleanup goals; · Assisting in writing work plans and reports in a concise technical manner according to the applicable project specific, federal, and state guidance; · Working effectively with multiple project managers and field managers; · Executing specific defined tasks in accordance with accepted guidelines and regulation in accordance with industry standard practice or government regulations and guidelines such as US EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, etc. Appropriate Background/Skills: · M.Sc. in Biology, Zoology, Toxicology or related science; · Applicant must have a minimum of 8 years experience; · Applicant must be experienced in the development of human health risk assessments in soil, air, and water media for MEC sites; · Applicant must have MMRP experience, and must have completed at least five MMRP human health risk assessments that have been approved by the Department of Defense (DOD) and the appropriate project regulatory bodies; · Experience with environmental issues related to sediments and Natural Resource Damage Act a plus; · 40-hour OSHA training preferred; · Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint; · Ability to apply analytical or scientific thinking to define and solve problems and be able to execute field office tasks; · Requires willingness to work outdoors collecting environmental information; · Ability to work effectively with team members as well as independently; · Utilize databases to query site information and data as well as to create historical tables and sampling report; Applicant must have strong oral and writing skills for technical reports and proposals. Writing samples may be requested from the candidate for AMEC's review.
