POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for technical packaging activities at the corporate and factory level concerning equipment, materials, operating efficiencies, and cost reduction opportunities. Includes project management, development and industrialization of new or modified packaging processes, improving operating efficiency of existing lines, and maintaining packaging specifications and materials. Act as a liaison between the plant/division, R&D/PTC, external resources concerning technical packaging and quality issues. Assist in the troubleshooting of packaging related problems and quality issues.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES
'Manage the design and development of primary and secondary packaging structures for new products and/or the redesign of packaging structures for existing products.
'Manage all phases for completing packaging-related factory trials including planning, implementing, reporting, and follow-up analysis.
'Develop and maintain specifications for all packaging materials using Globe.
'Work with corporate Quality Assurance, plant Quality Assurance, and vendors to establish and assure that the quality level of packaging materials complies with the FDA regulations and specified quality standards. Assists in the development of packaging material specifications, technical standards, and test methods.
'Assist with packaging related troubleshooting and implements follow-up and corrective action with vendors when quality standards are not met.
'Works with NCE, OIT, and NBS teams to identify and implement cost reduction initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL: Required: Bachelor's degree in Package Engineering or equivalent job experience.
At least two years of experience required with equipment and materials related to high barrier rigid and semi-rigid plastic bottles, high performance films, steel cans, glass, injection molded parts, and wide variety of secondary and tertiary packaging. Experience in managing small to medium sized packaging projects.
Preferred: Five years of relevant packaging experience. Nestle/Nestec policies and procedures training.
