Praxair Distribution, Inc., a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., a Fortune 250 company that supplies atmospheric, process, specialty gases, high-performance coatings, and related services & technologies is seeking an Associate Director of Operations in Houston, TX.

The Associate Director of Operations will be accountable for operations activities in Service, Production, Manufacturing and Maintenance to ensure required PDI business objectives are met. The Associate Director of Operations will lead a team of Plant Managers in the Gulf States.

Associate Director of Operations

Oversees all production & distribution activities for plants as well as all distribution for internal shuttles throughout the markets

Responsible for safety and compliance (internal Praxair standards, FDA, Federal, State, & local regulations for the region.)

Manages Safety, Productivity, Lean & Six Sigma Initiatives

Achieves productivity goal through formalized methods like Six Sigma, Lean & Kaizen

Creates & manages operational plans that result in the accomplishment of PDI objectives

Coordinated and facilitates activities and commitments with Sales (Area Managers, GSMs, and BOMs) as well as other departments

Ensures strategies are appropriately formulated and communication plans are provided

Establishes goals, promotes decision-making, delegates as appropriate and overcomes obstacles.

Takes a leadership role in creation and oversight of productivity optimization

Works with strategic independence, conferring with Senior and Executive Management on more complex assignments

Monitors trends, develops procedures and takes actions that set precedents

Staff, train, coach, and administer performance reviews, salary increases and corrective action of subordinate employees

Ensures compliance with all applicable internal and external standards

Will require travel to Gulf States at least 50% - 60% of the time


BS degree required (Engineering degree preferred)

10+ years cylinder gas operations experience required

5+ years cylinder gas engineering / project management required

Leadership skill mandatory

Interpersonal skills mandatory

Effective Change Agent

Ambassador to Praxair

Lean and or Six Sigma certified
