Bug Labs (www.buglabs.net) is a start up in SoHo, NY. We've created the BUG, a collection of easy-to-use, open source hardware modules, each capable of producing one or more Web services. These modules snap together physically and the services connect together logically to enable users to easily build, program and share innovative devices and applications. With BUG, businesses take advantage of a complete, integrated device development environment, enabling them to produce a proof-of-concept with a rich ecosystem of hardware, software and web services. Imagine being able to ramp from prototype to production faster and more affordably than ever before.
We continue work on a web based project allowing smart groups of devices to share information between devices, external machines or applications interested in consuming the group's data. We want you to help us.
Responsibilities
Experience doing both frontend and backend development (in any language)
Show us your Javascript! Seriously. Have strong Javascript skills and show us your code samples.
Designed, developed, launched, and maintained sets of large code base
Successful implementation of Restful architectures
Experience with a NoSQL database
Solid experience with Test Driven Development, Design Patterns and OOP

Other Things We'd Like To See:
Experience with Node.js and related frameworks, such as ExpressJS, Connect, or Expresso
Knowledge of full software development life-cycle
Hands-on experience with web techniques or technologies such as Websockets, Comet, JSONP, or BOSH.
Used a binary protocol, such as Protocol Buffers, Thrift, Avro, etc.
Experience using Git
Experience with continuous integration and deployment
Linux/Unix experience
Distributed application development experience
Experience using 3rd party visualization libraries
OSS Development, Apache, and Nginx
Skills
Abilities to solve engineering problems out of your comfort zone. You have engineering skills and use good algorithms.
Find the need, plan it and do it yourself! You have tremendous initiative and can work independently.
Able to discuss technical issues clearly and succinctly. Excellent written, oral, nonverbal and sarcastic communication skills a must.
Education
Minimum of 3 to 5 years applicable work experience.
