The Communications Research & Special Projects manager is responsible for ensuring Communications is meeting the needs of our customers, while continuing to build the company reputation and the Communications function. The individual in this role will assess the promotional and communication needs of the business by gathering pertinent data and analyzing quantitative results with the Communications team to ensure internal and external campaign effectiveness and support business objectives.

The Communications Research & Special Projects Manager will maintain monthly and annual productivity reports, statistical reports, and other ad hoc reports while evaluating the demographics of target audiences, distribution channels, external campaigns of our competitors and market conditions to develop marketing and communication strategies for UTC Aerospace Systems. The ideal candidate will have experience planning and managing research projects, and be able to work closely with senior management to interpret findings and drive change.

Responsibilities

(a2 Develop a plan to continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the products produced by the entire UTC Aerospace Systems Communications team to ensure customer needs are met.

(a2 Evaluate the quantity/frequency of products produced across all of the SBUs and functions to ensure customers are aware of newsworthy items across the entire business.

(a2 Manage market segmentation, targeting, and positioning exercises as needed.

(a2 Continuously assess the quality of the products produced by the Communications team through market feedback analysis (MFA). This data will then be used to continue to drive effective messages to our customers.

(a2 Review and report Google analytic data from all Communications websites to assess usage and effectiveness.

(a2 Ensure our products continue to reinforce our company ('9s operating principles: People, Integrity, Ideas and Performance.

(a2 Conduct focus groups to analyze low MFA and provide findings to the Communications team to assist them in continuously improving our products and marketing strategies.

(a2 Conduct market research to: analyze competitors marketing strategies; determine brand perceptions; evaluate market penetration; understand customer needs to maintain our competitive advantages through primary research methods (such as questionnaires, surveys and focus groups) and secondary research (information from industry associations, statisticians and marketing experts).

(a2 Conduct industry analysis: social, technological, economic and political.

(a2 Monitor and track competitive advertisements, PR, and website messaging.

(a2 Design research projects that answer specific business questions.

(a2 Use research data to generate reports that analyze customers, competition and the industry using charts, graphs and explanatory text. The reports will offer insights about product potential and marketing strategies.

(a2 Provide ROI analysis of marketing campaigns.

(a2 Manage monthly and annual communications report to senior leadership.

(a2 Build a marketing communications dashboard that visualizes key performance indicators.

(a2 Manage and execute annual customer satisfaction survey and compile results report.

(a2 Support of special projects as determined by business requirements.

(a2 Use of ACE tools to identify process improvements

(a2 Bachelor ('9s degree in business, marketing market research, mathematics, statistics, social sciences or related field; master ('9s degree preferred.

(a2 Exceptional knowledge of marketing, market research methodologies, statistics and business processes.

(a2 Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers.

(a2 Familiarity with AP style business writing guidelines for writing, editing, proofreading and reporting.

(a2 Strong business acumen, management, analytical, problem-solving, project management, time management, organizational and leadership skills.

(a2 Ability to develop strong relationships and work with senior level executives.

(a2 Strong computer skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, Google Analytics and online survey tools.

(a2 Ability to travel at least 15 percent or as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education - BS degree required

Experience - Minimum of 3 years of working experience required

IND. Exp. - Aerospace, Automotive, Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Government, Space
