Bioinformatics: Research Faculty in Bioinformatics
(tenure-track). Candidates are invited to apply for this faculty
position in the Division of Bioinformatics, Department of
Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Texas Health
Science Center at San Antonio. A tenure-track research faculty
position is available at the rank of assistant or associate level.
They will have the overall responsibility for strengthening our
collaborative research and developing a competitive bioinformatics
research and teaching program. The candidate will apply
bioinformatics techniques to genome sequence, high-throughput
profiling technology and related data to gain insights into the
biology of diverse organisms with an emphasis on cancer research.
Candidate will apply existing bioinformatics software tools, as
well as develop new software tools and algorithms to enhance our
analysis capabilities. The bioinformatics faculty will promote the
development of interdisciplinary bioinformatics research in
translational, clinical and community settings, and provide
oversight and guidance to research staff and post-graduate
students. The faculty will also develop their own research.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Computational Biology,
Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Electrical Engineering, Computer
Science, or a closely related discipline, with a minimum of one
year of post-doctoral research or equivalent experience in an
academic setting. Preference will be given to candidates with a
Ph.D. and post doctoral experience in bioinformatics. Applicants
