Description
This position is required to provide database management over site for various card business domains for the DB2, Oracle and SQL Server relational database management system (RDBMS) technologies. The over-site includes designing relational databases in support of operational applications. This includes involvement with physical database design, creation, review and consultation with developers and Database Administrators (DBAs) on issues, best practices, and transitions from logical to physical design. Also responsible for resolving database issues and recommend solutions.

Responsibilities:
- Provide education on RDBMS's to impacted areas (processes, technology, and usage)
- Ensure production quality through implementation gate checks and efforts to

drive down cost of ownership
- Ensure platform health from a data perspective through metrics production

database support and performance tuning
- Identify and close gaps across infrastructure
- Provide centralized communications to the production DBAs, QS/TDM, delivery, IPS and architecture groups
- Mitigate production and non-production database/infrastructure related issues

and compliance concerns (Nezumi)
- Set and drive tactical/strategic direction for RDBMS's across all business domains
- Implement strategic direction/initiatives from database engineers/architects to

include upgrades & decommissioning efforts
- Provide direction setting on project delivery to obtain optimal database designs

for consistency, stability/performance & reusability
- DB2/zOS enviornment
- SQL tuning and troubleshooting of a transactional environment
- Ability to balance multiple project timelines concurrently
- Provide RDBMS subject matter expertise to data modeler in support of the
development of the logical data model
- Proven ability to take project requirements and the logical data model and

create the following:
- a physical data model optimized for DB2/zOS environment
- a document representing:
- the database design that provides the solutions to database related non-
functional and functional requirements
- details how the implementation will conform to required corporate standards
- Understanding of mainframe best practices and ability to guide development
teams in choosing techniques that optimally fulfill requirements
- Ability to explain to cross functional teams the decisions involved in

determining the physical data model and the database design

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience leading/managing project delivery activities to include customer interfacing
- 5+ years hands-on database administration (DBA) experience, or managing a team of developers and/or DBAs on relational database management system (RDBMS) intiatives

Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience as a DBA in a DB2/zOS or Oracle/Unix environment
- 2+ years experience with Erwin or similar data modeling tool
. Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related technical degree
. 5 years of experience as an application developer in a DB2 mainframe environment or Oracle in a Unix environment
