The Senior Embedded Software Engineer has responsibilities extending to the development of systems software within the P&L. Additionally, the position may develop distributed software applications for real-time critical motion control of subsystems

Essential Responsibilities
- Drive the design and development of Embedded Scan SW platform for CT Scanners with strong focus on testing coverage and automation
- Work closely with systems teams in requirements gathering and software design
- Interact with global teams to promote consistency and maximize synergies across common software platforms
- Design and build strong testing infrastructure to minimize dependency on hardware availability
- Leverage DFR for software, Agile and Lean software development methodologies to drive reliability upstream into the product development life cycle

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related computer field or Bachelor’s - Degree and 5 years of technical experience in the software development
- 4 years of experience developing real time and/or embedded software for complex systems or computerized products
- Software development cycle or automated testing experience
- Experience in object oriented design methodology and various programming languages, including C/C++ and Java
- Working knowledge in configuration management tools

* Must be willing to work in New York city full-time

Desired Characteristics
- Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related computer field
- Experience in software platform, advanced applications, user-interface design and/or systems engineering
- Experience developing software for complex systems in medical devices industry
- Experience in platform and application development
- Experience in Linux and VxWorks development and debugging
- Experience with Rhapsody and/or Model Based Development
- Team leadership experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of Quality, Tools and/or LEAN processes
- Previous GE experience
