The purpose of this position is to carry out, under the supervision and guidance of the Environmental Health Director, on-site and over the phone, technical support to the water and wastewater operators and public works directors in 10 primary SEARHC communities, and 7 other communities if requested by the states RMW Program. Services provided include collecting information that will benefit the community and their funding partners by identifying the most critical portions of their water and wastewater systems needing upgrades, rehabilitation, or replacement.
Baseline Qualification Requirements:
*High school diploma or equivalent.
*Extensive experience in utility construction, operation and maintenance.
*Extensive experience with safe working procedures in all aspects of utility operations, maintenance, and construction.
*Extensive experience with State, Federal, and local drinking water regulations and procedures.
*Two years experience in the operation and maintenance of a community-type water system or wastewater treatment system.
*At least two years of increasingly responsible experience in plumbing, electrical, heating, heavy equipment operations and welding.
*Possess valid State of Alaska Level 2 water treatment, water distribution, and wastewater collection certifications, or have ability to obtain them within 6 months of hire.
*Must have a valid driver's license and remain insurable under the SEARHC automobile insurance policy.
*Valid ADEC Operator level 3 certifications in water treatment, water distribution, and wastewater collection. *Wastewater treatment operator certification at any level.
