- Master's degree in Counseling or related discipline from a regionally accredited college/university required. - Any license(s) and Certification(s) must meet the State of Texas guidelines and regulations for counseling practices, regardless of exempt status of educational entity. - Work with interdisciplinary programs and on committees within the college - Must be team-oriented with the ability to work well with other staff and faculty members in the development and administration of programs within the Counseling Center and throughout the college - Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills required - Possess personal computer literacy and good organizational skills - Embrace a philosophy of servant leadership - Foster a positive working environment. - Knowledge and experience with administering and evaluating college-level assessments, including computerized assessments - Possess the ability to work well with students, student groups, and college faculty and staff within a diverse college community - Ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously and to develop and complete new projects and programs with little supervision - Ability to behave in a considerate manner with others regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, disability, or beliefs - Ability to actively listen and demonstrate understanding and empathy - Ability to analyze and evaluate outcomes and effectiveness of projects/programs. - Ability to generate and identify opportunities to improve present programs and/or operations. - Demonstrates the determination to achieve objectives, particularly when subject to time/cost constraints - Ability to safeguard sensitive or confidential information from intentional or unintentional disclosure - Ability to meet deadlines for assigned reports and projects - Ability to perform all the essential functions of the job.
Should have experience in career/educational counseling, short-term counseling, crisis intervention, academic advising, minority concerns, counseling/education, learning styles/study skills, retention, and recruiting. Should have knowledge and experience with administering and evaluating college-level assessments, including computerized assessments. This position reports to the Director of Educational Planning & Counseling. Provide career, educational, and academic services. Develop and conduct student development seminars/workshops. Progress-monitoring and follow-up for students who are academically at risk. Upon request and need, sponsor student organizations. Maintain counseling and advising records. Assist with academic advising, educational planning, recruiting, retention, and testing programs. Develop and implement retention and recruiting programs. Develop presentations. Assess programs by data comparisons and evaluation. Other duties as assigned
