Title: Hospitalist Physician Assistant
Shift: Mon-Fri (8-5)
Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences. Graduate of an accredited Physician's Assistant/Family Nurse Practitioner Program. NCCPA Certified. Licensed in the State of Texas. Registered with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) if applicable. Current BLS, ACLS, PALS Certifications. Must complete 100 hours of CME every two (2) years and take the recertification exam every six (6) years. Must be supervised by a physician. Scope of practice is related directly to the PA's supervising physician and individual state laws.
Performs direct patient care in the hospital setting under the supervision of a physician. Provide healthcare services typically performed by a physician assistant or family nurse practitioner. Conduct complete patient history, provide treatment and counsel patients. May, in some cases, prescribe medication. Graduate from an accredited educational program of physician assistants or family nurse practitioners. PA/FNP is expected to record and analyze the progress of a patient alongside giving counseling and suggestion when therapy is necessary.
