Responsibilities

FINANCIAL AUDITOR

The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) at the National Security Agency (NSA) is looking for a dynamic professional with the technical and leadership skills necessary to assist in the oversight of federal Financial Statement audits. As a Financial Auditor, the incumbent would be responsible to the Assistant Inspector General for Audits (AIG (Aud)) for overseeing and conducting audits of NSA's Financial Statements and related financial activities. The Financial Audit team advises the AIG (Aud) and IG on matters related to the Agency's ability to obtain an unqualified (clean) opinion on its financial statements.

Responsibilities include the following:
1. Assisting in the performance of complex and comprehensive financial statement audits and special studies of NSA financial operations.

2. Overseeing the planning and execution of financial audits contracted to an independent public accounting firm to perform the audit of the Agency's financial statements.

3. Evaluating the work of external auditors to ensure their work complies with generally accepted government auditing standards (GAGAS), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) performance and reporting standards, and relevant statements on auditing standards (SASs).

4. Assisting in the development of formal reports of findings and recommendations to Agency officials for corrective actions.

5. Completing an annual training program to maintain the requisite knowledge, skills, abilities, and professional development.

6. Consulting with the NSA Office of General Counsel on matters involving interpretation or possible violations of laws, rules, or regulations.

7. Performing other duties as directed by IG management.

Job Requirements
Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience

Qualifications include financial statement auditing experience (preferably federal government experience), and knowledge of applicable federal accounting standards.

The individual should also demonstrate superior judgment and the ability to communicate effectively with senior officials.

Entry is with an Associate's degree and 3 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience, or a post-baccalaureate certificate and 1 year of experience, or a Master's degree. Degree must be in business or a related field.

Undergraduate degree in accounting is preferred. CPA exam, CIA exam, or CISA exam is preferred. Experience in the auditing field (public or private). Experience in operational auditing.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Salary range: $42,209 - $97,333
