DIRECTV is seeking a supervisor for the Broadcast Software Operations team located at our California Broadcast Center in Long Beach, California. The supervisor will plan and oversee project related work and personnel supporting vital broadcast systems that entertain over eleven million customers across Latin America. This position works to ensure that all phases of operations technical support are properly coordinated, monitored, tracked, and resolved in a timely matter by working hands-on with the latest technology and coordinating cross-functionally with various internal departments. This person is also responsible for developing goals and strategies consistent with the business plan to simplify and facilitate effective coordination and communication of activities across the Latin America and U.S. organizations to meet company requirements and technological initiatives. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited, to, the following:
Oversees the development of global broadcast systems administration resources.
Assigns and monitors work of systems administration personnel, providing technical support and direction.
Provides technical leadership for systems administration personnel on maintenance procedures, technical problems, and defining priorities.
Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software and Windows/Linux operating system issues.
Establishes and reviews performance and development objectives for the team and provide coaching and feedback to all team members.
Ensures that systems administration staff is responsive to end user needs.
Develops and implements departmental standards and procedures.
Evaluates current and projected hardware and software systems.
Maintains a solid understanding of subsystem capabilities and limitations.
Enhances technology expertise, keeping current with evolving systems analysis, programming and database technology.
Builds, maintains and values strong and positive relationships with both internal and external organizational units or affiliates.
Presents project status to various levels of management and as well as key internal and external stakeholders.
Work successfully within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and effectively manage multiple projects and priorities.
Detailed below are the minimum requirements of the education, experience, knowledge, and skills required to competently perform in this position:
BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.
+4 years of supervisory experience.
+2 years experience building a team within a large enterprise, leading a 24x7 operation, including remote employees.
ITIL v3 Certification(s) a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with senior management and technical subject matter experts.
Demonstrated ability to anticipate, mitigate, and resolve conflicts across workgroups while effectively managing the expectations of key stakeholders.
Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly.
Capable of actionable decision-making with the ability to resolve complex systems issues.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills needed with the ability to communicate issues & resolutions to all levels of the organization.
Established leadership capability with an ability guide and motivate employees.
Effective at managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and projects.
