                  Strategic Federal Tax Services (SFTS) - Paraprofessional

                  The Corporate - SFTS team at Grant Thornton LLP performs R&D Credit engagements that require to gather, review, indexing and analysis of a high number of documents. Many of the tasks associated with these engagements can be performed by a paraprofessional under the direction of the engagement manager and/or partner.

                  Position Summary:
                  • Gather Taxpayer Documentation. Individual will assist in gathering taxpayer documentation. This may include preparing an information request, physically inspecting and gathering documents from a taxpayer location, gathering documents from a taxpayer’s network, or other tasks.
                  • Review Taxpayer Documentation. Individual will assist in reviewing taxpayer documentation for the purpose of sorting, categorizing and indexing said documentation. This may either be in hardcopy or softcopy form. The documentation may be related to new product development, product design, product testing, patent filings, time sheets, etc.
                  • Indexing Taxpayer Documentation. Individual will prepare indexes of taxpayer documentation including a description of each document. The indexing process will require each document be numbered, categorized, and summarized.
                  • Travel – typically some travel is required to perform these tasks. Individual can expect to travel typically 10 to 12 nights per month. Travel is dependent on location of engagements and location of the individual. There may be months when no travel is required and months when more travel is required.
                  • Manage workload. Individual will be required to “multi-task” and manage various project tasks at once. Project managers will be ultimately responsible for the overall project and deliverable. Individual is expected to initiate internal communication regarding status of tasks, status of work load, expected due dates, etc.

                  Required Skills and Experience:
                  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business
                  • Minimum of one to three years of experience in tax and/or business consulting, preferably in professional services.
                  • Organization skills: Candidate must demonstrate the ability to organize, categorize and index large amounts of documents.
                  • Critical thinking: Candidate must demonstrate the ability to review a document, understand the document, and interpret the document for tax purposes. A general understanding of business documents, or development documents, or legal documents will be helpful but not mandatory.
                  • Strong verbal communication: Candidate must demonstrate ability to clearly communicate verbally. Much of the tax consulting fieldwork requires Candidate to interact with client personnel and verbal communication skills are critical
                  • Strong writing skills: Candidate must demonstrate ability to clearly communicate through writing.
                  • Time management: Candidate must demonstrate ability to manage time, multi-task and meet deadlines.
                  • Travel: Candidate must be willing and able to travel approximately 10 to 12 days per month.
                  • Teamwork: Candidate must demonstrate experience in working as a productive member of a team.
                  • Professional presence: Candidate will be interacting with clients frequently and must conduct themselves in an acceptable professional manner as a representative of Grant Thornton.
