Responsible for processing and distributing forms related to various human resource functions. Performs clerical duties including typing, duplicating, filing, handling telephone inquiries. Processes human resources forms related to department functions including, but not limited to, employment applications, notices of vacancy, leave applications, group insurance claims, workers compensation claims, enrollment forms, unemployment claims, etc. Performs general clerical duties including typing, duplicating, mailing and filing under the direction of a supervisor. Handles telephone and personal inquiries from applicants, DCCCD employees, and retirees regarding human resources policies, benefits, job openings, and procedures for filing a variety of forms and/or claims. Establishes and maintains employee human resource records in a variety of formats, including, but not limited to computer databases, paper records, micro-fiche/films, etc. May be responsible for set-up and the termination of employee files. Processes incoming/outgoing mail. Verifies employment; verbal and/or written as requested. Inputs employee data into the human resources personnel system (e.g. Colleague). May act as a receptionist, schedule appointments, receive visitors and applicants. May provide guidance and/or direction to temporary and/or part-time staff. Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation form high school or equivalent plus one year of general office experience. Basic knowledge of microcomputer software/ hardware to support word processing and interface with mainframe applications. Some positions may require typing speed up to 50 WPM and ten key by touch. Oral communication skills to deal effectively with varying levels of DCCCD staff and the general public from diverse backgrounds. *May be subject to a criminal background check prior to employment with the District. *
