The Position Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities: o Stay current in US trade laws and customs regulations as well as inRoche global standards. o Develop US policies for compliance to regulations and standards. o Communicate policies formally through training and website or newsletterto all local functional units involved in export or import activity.

o Provide recommendations and assist local functional units in developmentof practices (i.e. SOPs) for complying with regulations, standards and USpolicy. o Provide updates to senior management of new developments and potentialrisks/liabilities. o Assign the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) product codes and FDA codesrequired for importation of products and shipments.

o Maintain import and export records OR assure appropriate records aremaintained, auditing as required. o Negotiate fees and approve payments of invoices from US Customs, government agencies,and brokers. o Assist US personnel in completing applications to obtain requiredimport/export permits, i.e. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Food and DrugAdministration (FDA), Center for Disease Control (CDC), etc.

o Identify and drive process improvements in trade compliance. o Liaise with Healthcare Compliance (Legal Department) with regard todeemed exports (i.e. non-US nationals), providing expertise and recommendationsfor management of this program. Who you are o BS or BA degree and at least 5 years in an import/export position.

o Acurrent U.S. CBP issued Customs Broker License is preferred o Solid knowledge of customs regulations including knowledge of drawbacks,HTS classification, Temporary Import Under Bond (TIB) regulations, royaltiesand assists. o Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills. o Strong training skills including preparation of materials and deliveryto groups.

o Strong track record of collaboration, relationship management andinfluencing skills. o Strong planning,organization, and time management skills. o Independentself-starter. o Excellentnegotiation skills.

o Strong customerfocus including timely follow up and sense of urgency. o ApplyingTechnical Expertise – stays current on laws and regulations, communicates tostakeholders. o BusinessKnowledge – understands risks related to import and export compliance and canclearly articulate the business/financial impacts. o Collaboration andTeamwork – influences others to develop SOPs to comply with corporate policy.
