Manage project planning, execution, control, and closure, at times with assistance. Work on one or more Enterprise Project Office (EPO) projects. Support the EPO department in its function as a team partner in facilitating HMSA’s large scale projects that require the coordinated efforts of numerous divisions and departments. These projects usually span many months, and are pivotal to achieving the company’s strategic and operational objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Communications Management: Makes presentations to solicit project buy-in, report on project status, conduct problem resolution, etc. Ensures all project-related communications are effective and understandable to the necessary audiences.

  • Project Development: Receives high-level business requirements and develops detailed requirements. Develops methods, procedures and quality objectives, including metrics for assessing progress. Creates detailed project plans and establishes schedules. Refines source requirements, forms project teams, and prioritizes efforts. Further defines estimates for financial, physical or human resources to support long-term efforts.

  • Quality Control/Improvement: Monitors project milestones and critical dates, scope, cost and quality to identify potential risks. Initiates ways to resolve schedule and other project-related issues. Assesses variances from the project plan, gathers metrics, and develops and implements changes as necessary to ensure the project remains within its specified scope and is within time, cost and quality objectives. Conducts project review and closure at project completion to confirm acceptance and satisfaction. Keeps management apprised of all problems/issues and corrective actions.

  • Vendor Management: Manages relationship with external vendors working to support project requirements. Assesses performance against the project’s milestones/schedule, metrics, scope, and quality as defined by contract specifications. Acts as a liaison between the business client and vendor.

  • Leadership: Provides work direction and leadership on assigned projects, including scheduling, assignment of work, and review of project efforts. Continuously provides the team with constructive feedback as it pertains to project performance.

  • Team Coordination: Conducts project kickoff meetings, communicating individual roles and project expectations and ensuring that all project team members have the tools and training required to perform effectively. Develops and maintains a productive working relationship with project stakeholders.


  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, specialized training, or equivalent work experience.
  • One year of project management or equivalent team leadership experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as both a leader and team member.
  • Ability to manage large, complex projects.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information and make recommendations to high-level decision makers.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
