Full time opportunity in the Center for Cancer Research, located in the Charlestown Navy Yard.
Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Manager for Research, the Grant Coordinator will be responsible for the preparation of grant applications and the financial monitoring of project expenditures. Position will work primarily with the Molecular Therapeutics program which focuses on targeted therapies, particularly in lung cancer. Training in grants management will be provided.
Prepare grant applications with required information and supporting materials, adhering to sponsor and MGH requirements. Enter and track application in MGH grant database and follow-up on outstanding items through to completion. Assemble and maintain application files.
Work with investigators to complete sponsor required reports.
Assist investigators in the preparation of application budgets and budget revisions upon award. Request set up of new project funds. Obtain supporting documents as required.
Review monthly financial reports for accuracy. Assist with processing expense transfers if necessary. Monitor revenue receipt.
Verify availability of funds and appropriateness of purchases. With lab manager, close purchase orders and identify new funding sources for ongoing charges at project end.
Assist investigators with preparation of recurring research reporting such as grant support, effort, publications, and training records.
Position requires organization, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and Internet applications. Good communication skills across multiple organization levels. Excellent writing and editing skills.
Bachelors degree in science or social science, with research laboratory experience.
One year relevant administrative or research experience. Demonstrated pre- and post-award experience a plus.
