Provide Technical Data Support Services (TDSS) required for the
sustainment of Robins Air Force Base (Robins AFB) technical
data, Robins AFB, GA. Robins AFB is responsible for the
acquisition, sustainment, and publication of technical data
(technical order documents and engineering data) to support
aircraft, missile, vehicle, combat electronic systems, and
other managed weapon systems. Currently, Robins AFB manages
approximately 42 thousand basic technical orders (TOs)
comprising an estimated 6.5 million pages of various sizes, and
over 17.1 million engineering data images. The Senior
Technical Writer/Editor will write aircraft/commodity technical
manuals in compliance with TMCR and military specifications.

Position Requirements and Responsibilities

Experience writing aircraft/commodity technical manuals in
compliance with TMCR and military specifications.

Individuals must have experience with all styles of manuals
such as maintenance, illustrated parts breakdowns (IPBs), job
guides, flight manuals, checklists, et al.

Ability to delegate/assign work to other writers.

May works with management, technical personnel, authors, and
subject matter experts to define documentation, content,
guidelines, specifications, and develop schedules.

Analyzes the data and user requirements to ensure that
documentation is clear, concise, and valid.

May be responsible for any activity in the production cycle
through document delivery and maintenance.

May coordinate or supervise resources during the production
cycle.

Studies sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications,
mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate
technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and
detail.

Requirements:

Additional Skills Qualification and Education

Requires review of engineering drawings and other
data relative to operation maintenance, and service of
equipment.

Individual must have capability to edit, standardize,
or make changes to material prepared by other writers and
illustrators.

Must be able to draw sketches to illustrate specified
materials or assembly sequence.

Must be knowledgeable of MIL-PRF-83495 OMMS styles
manuals.

Proficiency in Microsoft office programs and
applications.

Knowledge and proficiency working with publishing
software.

Must exhibit articulate, accurate and creative
writing skills.

Excellent communication, grammar and proof-reading
skills.

SGML knowledge preferred.
