Xavier University, a Catholic University in the Jesuit tradition, invites applications for a full-time, 12 month position as an Athletic Trainer Assistant (Intern). Xavier is an NCAA Division I institution in the Atlantic-10 Conference. The Athletic Trainer Assistant is responsible for prevention, care, rehabilitation of all injuries to Xavier University Student Athletes. Specifically responsible for organizing all sports medicine coverage for Men's Soccer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work cooperatively with and under direction of the team physician and the Head Athletic Trainer in providing the following for all sports:
Rehabilitation of Student Athletes
Management of Xavier Sports Medicine Facility
Referrals to Health and Wellness and other Health Care Providers
Assist in examinations and screenings
Liaison to Beacon Orthopedics appointments which include weekly physician/PT clinics at Xavier
Weekly reporting of injuries to both coaches and physicians
Direct daily training room operations under the direct supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer which include:
Exercise rehabilitation and therapy programs
Medical record keeping
Assist Head Athletic Trainer in the following capacities:
Liaison to Health & Wellness Center:
Set up annual physicals
Set up counseling appointments
Advise coaches and athletes on health issues
Coordination of sports medicine coverage of selected home sporting events:
Assist in the supervision of Athletic Training Students assigned to the Xavier Sports Medicine Facility for Internship:
Liaison to Clinical Coordinator for yearly in-service for Athletic Training Students
Assist Associate Head Athletic Trainer with
On-site testing and implementation of drug education process
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree; NATABOC Certification; and eligible for State of Ohio Licensure.
