The Data Center Specialist (DCS) is an expert at the physical infrastructure and support systems for IT and IT related equipment in clients Data Center in Topeka, Kansas.
The DCS provides technical advice, planning, design, implementation, construction, commissioning, project management, and strategy to all aspects of infrastructure and facilities required for proper operation of data centers and specialized facilities. They work with the Customer to determine equipment locations and submit requests for power, network, fiber cabling, tile cuts etc.
Responsible for supporting 4 Mainframe’s and associated hardware upgrades, configuration management, trouble shooting and microcode changes. System Administrator for 2074/3174 Terminal Controllers, FICON and ESCON Directors.
Participate in Data Center Planning Meetings.
Assist with Asset Management with equipment being received and disposed.
Participate in Hardware Audit requests and maintain the local Inventory spreadsheets.
On call for apparent problems/issues with ALL Mainframe related equipment (CPUs, DASD, TAPE, Switches/Directors, Terminal Controllers, etc.).
The Data Center Specialist should be familiar with Mainframe, Distributed, Storage and Network IT Equipment technologies
- High School Diploma/GED
- At least 6 months experience in Data Center Knowledge
- Readiness to travel 10% travel annually
- English: Fluent
- At least 1 year experience in Data Center Knowledge
