Job Title: National Security Analyst/Program Specialist
Location: Washington, DC
In meeting national interests, the Nonproliferation, Anti-terrorism, Demining and related programs (NADR)-funded Global Threat Reduction (GTR) programs seek to prevent diversion of scientific, engineering, and technical expertise and technologies related to weapons of mass destruction (WMD), their delivery systems, and other advanced military technologies from countries of proliferation concern or terrorist groups. GTR programs are global and include efforts to:
Engage and redirect former weapon scientists, engineers, and technicians to peaceful, civilian activities and provide incentives for them not to market their capabilities in weapons and related technology to potential proliferators or terrorists; Improve biological and chemical security and safety and engage biological and chemical scientists, technicians and engineers, including improving the security of dangerous pathogens Engage scientists, technicians and engineers with nuclear expertise.
Other program elements may be added as new opportunities and requirements develop. The programs operate under rigorous policy oversight and are implemented using a wide range of tools, including international agreements, grants, contracts, funds transfers to other U.S. Government programs, and the engagement of non-government organizations (NGOs) and the private sector.
Assist the Global Threat Reduction (GTR) programs with a variety of tasks as defined by the International Security and Nonproliferation (ISN)/CTR Director, ISN/CTR Deputy Directors, and relevant Team Leaders Report directly to the Bio Team Leader and the Deputy Director. Assisting the Senior Coordinator in managing the Biosecurity Engagement Program (BEP) assistance efforts, by country Planning of BEP assistance in specified countries, conference and, workshop participation, and other nonproliferation programmatic efforts under GTR. Participate in meetings, conferences, and general correspondence related to GTR programs Research and organize background material as appropriate for presentations and written tasks
Clearance: This position requires a SECRET level clearance initially but will be upgraded to TOP SECRET TS/SCI ______________________________________________________________________________
