Job Description:
This engineer will function as a Senior PCB Power Supply Electronics circuit designer. A minimum 10 years of experience in designing power supplies is required, 10 or more years is preferred. The successful candidate should demonstrate a track record of delivering designs that challenge accepted standards for power density, efficiency, electromagnetic compatibility, and cost. Principal responsibility of this position is the design of the control and power electronics for power systems and motor drives in aerospace.
Compensation will vary from $150k to $175k pending experience.

Must have the following technical expertise:
(1) Mixed signal circuit design using DSPs and microcontrollers such as TMS320F2812, MPC, MC38XXX, etc.,

(2) Design of DSP and/or Microprocessor interfaces to position sensors, temperature sensors, high resolution current sensors, and digital communication buses such as CAN, AFDX etc.,

(3) Design of 3-phase IGBT/MOSFET PWM drive circuits and protection functions
(4) Circuit design and development of 3-phase 115VAC Variable Frequency (360-800 Hz) power converters using active rectifier topology with PFC (power factor correction) and digital design
(5) Experience in high voltage isolation at altitude and Power/Grounding schemes
(6) Op Amp, I-Amp, Differential Amp and Comparator, Discrete transistor/MOSFET , Analog conditioning and filter design
(7) Strong experience in magnetics design such as boost inductors and power transformers used in high frequency switching circuits. Experience in the analysis, simulation and modeling of inductors is required
(8) Experience in the design and development of high power electronics hardware with aerospace safety and protection features per RTCA/DO-160 and aircraft OEM power quality requirements (Airbus & Boeing)
(9) Experience with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-462 component standards and RTCA-DO254 design standards
(10) Experience in design verification of the power electronics hardware against aircraft electrical interfaces, power quality requirements, safety and protection requirements and other aerospace regulatory requirements
(11) Experience in the design and development of EMI filters with grounding, shielding, noise immunity and signal integrity considerations
(12) Experience in debugging power electronics controllers, designing test equipment to verify the new designs as well legacy designs
(13) Design experience of switching power supplies (buck, boost, fly-back, push-pull and full bridge)
(14) Design of Instrumentation amplifiers, D/A controllers, Signal conditioning circuits
(15) Experience in circuit design analysis (error, stress, reliability, thermal and radiation hardened), signal integrity analysis, and DFM
(16) Experience in WCA (Worst Case Analysis), FMEA, and Schematic simulation model, SPICE Modeling & analysis
(17) Experience in defining system specification, simulation, design verification test plans and test procedures etc.,
(18) Solid understanding and experience with electronics product development that includes Requirements Validation, process Assurance, Certification Liaison, Configuration Management, PCB testing, and Design Verification

  • Bachelors/Masters in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Electronics with > 10 years of work experience.
  • Design Tools: Altium Designer , MATLAB/Simulink, PSPICE
  • Electronics Packaging, Thermal Analysis, Hardware Configuration Management, Hardware Design Verification, aerospace electronics product development processes
