The Stock Borrow Loan (SBL) desk is part of the Equity Finance Organization. SBL undertakes various trade structures ranging from short coverage, financing, conduit lending, dividend yield enhancement, and the facilitation of longer-term non-standard structured deals. To support this, they borrow stock from counterparties based in various countries around the world and flow this stock through multiple legal entities onto the relevant risk entity.
The Stock Borrow Loan Operations main function is to facilitate and control the end-to-end life cycle of Equity Borrow/Loan activity for the investment bank. Liaison with external counterparties and traders on a day-to-day basis is the key to success. Trade support and collateral (cash and stock) management are the main functions of the team along with the control and clearance of all exceptions and cash flows that the trade lifecycle creates (cash wash , nostro, position reconciliations).
This role is to become part of the Stock Loan Operations team supporting the US Broker Dealers International book. This candidate would be expected to cross train in all areas of the Operations support team. Day to day functions within the Operations support team include:
Ensure timely settlement of all mark to market, settlement exposure and billing off the back of SBL activity across mainly global equity markets with some Fixed Income (FI) exposure
Daily cash pool agreement and reconciliation
Ensure all team MIS targets are met
Production of daily MIS
Provide support for Operations Manager on key initiatives and projects, driving the strategic agenda
Liaise with stock borrow loan counterparties, internal clients, and Front Office to investigate and resolve any issues
Look to improve controls and procedures
Ensure adherence of all key controls within the department
Monitor and ensure timely settlement of the contract compare
Experience in securities operations preferred
Well motivated and enthusiastic

Proactive approach to problem solving, taking ownership of issues and having the determination to follow through
Ability to develop relationships with clients, the front office, and a variety of other contacts within operations areas
Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
Ability to work in a high pressured environment, meeting tight deadlines on a daily basis
Strong written & oral communication skills
Bachelor degree preferred
International support - may be required to work overtime
