Merchandise Planning Manager

Nebraska Book
Company is currently seeking a Planning Manager for the General Merchandise
Team. The Planning Manager will drive planning strategies for the all
categories across The Merchandise division. This position will partner closely
with the Buying team, Visual Merchandising, Store Planning, Marketing and many
other departments in setting and reaching financial objectives to drive business

Duties include,

but are not limited to:
Own the annual
planning process for Open-to-Buy: product performance, sales, inventory, receipt
and margin goals Own the
top-line financial plan and monthly forecast processes to achieve merchandise
objectives Provide
high-level analysis and business reports to leadership, including strategic
recommendations to maximize sales and profitability. Manage a
planning team, providing training and career development, setting expectations
and goals, and ensuring departmental plans meet financial objectives and support
department strategies. Communicate
department strategies to team, and ensure plans support those
strategies. Review buys at
a detailed level to ensure styles are planned appropriately and support
departmental plans. Partner with
Buying teams to ensure line supports financial objectives and to develop
assortment plans and product flow. Partner with
Finance to develop sales and margin targets pre and in-season. Ensure team
maximizes opportunities by continuously analyzing the business and reacting to
trends. Develop and
ensure compliance of planning process improvements, standardizations and best

practices. Qualifications:
degree with 7+ years of experience in merchandise planning or buying
required. Management/supervisory leadership experience and strength Outstanding
verbal and written communication and presentation skills required Strong
strategic thinking and analytical skills Ability to
interact, report on and drive business with cross-functional teams and across
all levels of management Advanced
problem solving skills, adaptability/flexibility and initiative Ability to
prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
Systems savvy
