Emporia State University (ESU), Emporia, KS, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Earth Science to begin August 2013. Preferred areas of teaching and research include one or more of the following: atmospheric sciences (climatology and meteorology), geomorphology, hydrology, and natural resources. Experience with, and/or the ability to teach, courses in geographic information systems is also desirable. We seek applicants who are committed to undergraduate education, can teach dynamically our face-to-face general education course "Introduction to Earth Science," are interested in teaching online, and can direct undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) research. A completed Ph.D. in some aspect of Atmospheric Science, Earth Science, Geology, or Physical Geography is required by the start date. A typical semester load will include a section of “Introduction to Earth Science and Labs” and two courses in the candidate’s area of expertise with research and service contributions also expected. Salary is competitive with institutions similar to ESU.
