As a Consulate Health Care Regional Dietitian, you are entrusted with the responsibility of caring for our residents, families, co-workers, visitors and all others; as well as dernonstrating in all interactions, Consulate Health Care’s five core values of Compassion, Honesty, Integrity, Respect and Passion. The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the nutritional care of residents in single or multiple facilities following current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern long term care and assisted living facilities, to provide support and resources to contract or facility dietitians in the region, and to act as a resource to the Director of Dining Services in the region so that the food services department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.. As Regional Dietitian, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the nutrition care of residents following current federal, state, and local guidelines and for providing resources and support to facility level dietitians and Directors of Dining Service. Responsibilities of Regional Dietitian Includes
  • Assist in developing policies and procedures governing the operations ofthe Dining Services Department, including nutrition care.
  • Interpret the department’s policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc., as necessary.
  • Make written or verbal reports/recommendations to the Executive Director or RVPO as necessary/required concerning the operation of Dining Services Department.
  • Participate in compliance surveys for facilities in the region.
  • Review and assist in developing a plan of correction for any food service deficiencies noted during state/federal surveys and provide a written copy of such plan to the Executive Director fur his/her approval.
  • Review and make recommendations for an ongoing quality assurance program for the Food Services Departments.
  • Provide support to facilities in the region during state or federal surveys.
  • Provide resources and guidance to facility/multifacility dietitians in the region.
  • Provide consultation to the Director of Dining Services, Executive Director and/or RVPO on federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to food service operations.
  • Complete monthly sanitation and safety check of the food service department of each facility and report results to the Executive Director and RVPO.
  • Ensure that menus are followed and substitutions appropriate for own facility(s)
  • Complete nutrition assessments and related documentation timely in own facility(s)
  • Review therapeutic and regular diet plans and menus to ensure that they are in compliance with the physician’s orders.
  • Attend Q.A. meetings as needed in own facility(s)
  • Assist the Directors of Dining Services in region in maintaining costs within budget.
  • Agree not to disclose assigned user ID code and password for accessing resident/facility information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator.
  • Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access facility’s information systems. IS. Must be computer literate, excellent working knowledge of all pertinent software.
  • Timely information repnrting.
  • Must stay in compliance with all state, federal, and government agencies.

Regional Dietitian Requirements for Regional Dietitian :
  • Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility’s food service areas (i.e., dining rooms, resident rooms, activity rooms, etc.).
  • Moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to Frequent interruptions.
  • Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances. Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.
  • Communicates with the medical staff, nursing staff, and other department supervisors.
  • Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
  • Ts subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.). Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
  • Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
  • Maintains a liaison with other department directors to adequately plan for food services/activities. May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from an accredited college or university. Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Associations.

  • Must have, as a minimum, 3 years of dietary experience in long-term care either as a consultant or in a supervisory capacity.

Specific Requirements
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered active license to practice as a Dietitian in the state. Be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of dietary practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing dietary functions in the nursing facility.
  • Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the

  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and eflthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing food service practices. Must be able to read and interpret food service cost reports, financial data, etc.
  • Must be able to relate information concerning the resident’s condition.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
