We are seeking an energetic, outgoing, clinical professional to be part of our Independent Drug Information Service team of academic detailers. We provide in-office, medical education outreach to primary care physicians that supports better drug prescribing and the achievement of better patient outcomes.Who we are:We are a team of doctors, researchers, and public health professionals associated with Harvard Medical School who are working with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to offer a service that provides non-commercial, evidence-based information to physicians with the goal of achieving better drug prescribing and improved patient outcomes. We are not associated with any pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare company. We are looking for clinician-educators willing to work independently to make one-on-one educational visits to physicians, providing balanced, non-commercial information about efficacy, safety, and cost effectiveness of medications. Applicants need to have a degree in pharmacy, nursing, or medicine with at least 5 years of experience. We are seeking professionals who can work flexible hours, and will be hired as independent contractors.For more information go to: www.RxFacts.org or www.AlosaFoundation.org Position Description: Drug Information Consultants work independently with doctors in specified regions of Massachusetts, receiving content and programmatic support from physicians and the operations team in Boston. Activities include: After specialized communications training, undertaking one-on-one educational visits with physicians and allied health professionals in the greater Philadelphia metropolitan area. During each encounter, a particular therapeutic topic is discussed, and specially designed evidence-based materials are used to complement verbal communication. Establishing and maintaining positive, service-oriented relationships with physicians, allied health professionals and office staff through repeated office visits and contacts. Developing creative strategies to reach physicians, including visiting physician offices, scheduling appointments and following up on requests for information and service. Working with the project team to evaluate and improve the service, and associated communication materials. Contributing to the design and development of new educational materials. Acting as a liaison between the physician community and the project team.
Qualifications: Degree and experience in pharmacy, nursing, or medicine is required. Must have thorough knowledge and experience of clinical and pharmacological information relevant to primary care practice. Must be able to assess physicians needs, clearly judge and communicate relevant medical information, and develop engaging presentations accordingly. Must have strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Must be self-motivated and able to work well both independently and as part of a team. Also preferred: experience in medications management and therapeutic decision-making, research, epidemiology, public health, health education, and/or pharmaceutical or medical sales experience. Must be proficient in basic computer skills and comfortable with learning new applications. Must possess a valid drivers license and a flexible schedule, with the ability to visit physicians during various times throughout the day.Send cover letter and resume to jobs@alosafoundation.org
