Performs a variety of clerical and heavy public contact duties; supports the operations of the Case Management division in the Municipal Court for the cashiers department.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs cashiering duties; large volume of customers. Maintains court record-keeping systems that may include data input, updating, and filing of records and documents; schedules cases for court dates; processes a variety of court documents, records fees, and payments; receives, processes, and deposits fines and fees; e daily closeout; pulls and sends appropriate paperwork to other departments; processes bonds and fees; prepares warrant cancellations; answers phones; provides customer assistance including answering questions, directing inquiries to appropriate departments, and receiving and processing payments, bond releases, and related court documents; operates a variety of office equipment and personal computers; and performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: At least 2 years general clerical and cashiering experience with heavy public contact; bilingual and municipal court background preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Knowledge: Knowledge of basic office practices and procedures; business English and math; and personal computers with word processing software applications.
Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens; and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Skills: Proficient with data entry.
Licenses, Certificates, or Equipment Required: This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
Working Conditions:
Physical Demands: Primarily light physical work requiring the ability to lift up to a maximum of 20 pounds; occasional lifting, carrying, and walking; standing and bending to perform filing; frequent hand/eye coordination to operate office equipment; vision to read and interpret written material and documents; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens.
Work Environment: Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment.
Equipment Used: Frequently uses standard office equipment including calculators, computers, copy/fax machines, and telephones.
