Sr Electrical Engineer- Transmitter DSP Engineer, Research & Development
This is a senior software engineering position in the Advanced Technology Center's Advanced Radio Systems group. This position will require the design, synthesis and implementation of digital signal processing algorithms to drive a broad range of microwave transmitter subsystems including high power amplifiers, filters and mixers. Responsibilities include research and development of next generation digital pre-distortion algorithms operating over wide bandwidths, with extreme performance requirements, and/or over multiple TX bands.
Candidate required skills
DSP simulation experience, with tools such as Matlab/Simulink, QuestaSim, and Synplicity DSP/Synphony MC
General code development expertise in C, C++, and VHDL
Experience in a lab environment and familiarity with circuit-level test and characterization
Experience with analog or digital linearization of power amplifiers, and familiarity with Volterra-Wiener systems
Be self-directed, able to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives with minimal oversight
Have excellent oral and written communications skills
Candidate desired (but optional) skills
Ability to create models of new power amplifier topologies for inter-symbol interference mitigation including memory
Familiar with digital transmitters including digital IF, clipping / crest factor reduction (CFR) and detrough
Be familiar with business development for internal and external customers including Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)
Previous experience in the defense industry
Bachelor's degree in applicable engineering or science field, and six years of related experience, or, in the absence of a bachelor's degree,
twelve years of related experience.
Applicant must be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. US Citizenship is required.
