Information About The Job:
  • STARTING SALARY: It is the policy of Western State College for all new hires to start at the entry level monthly salary of the state range. Exceptions are rare and subject to budget constraints. If the successful candidate is currently a state employee for transfer or promotion, his/her current salary may be taken into consideration.
DUTIES: This position has three roles in the Computing, Media & Telecommunications Department. Primarily it serves as tier II technical support for the Frontline Support Group, secondarily as a junior IT service administrator for the Core Services Group, and thirdly as a liaison between the sections. In its primary role, the position is responsible for processing campus work requests and when necessary, assisting IT technicians, student technicians, and the customer support coordinator in solving any support issues that lower levels have not been able to resolve. In its secondary role, the position also acts as a junior IT service administrator, performing various duties as directed by the members of the Core Services Group. These duties may include, but are not limited to, computer image construction and updates, file share management, terminal server cluster management, access layer network maintenance, server hardware maintenance, user account management, operating system updates, application management and web resource management. In its tertiary role, the position operates as a technical bridge between Frontline support and Core Services. Given the position's exposure to both frontline support issues and core services and infrastructure, it will facilitate communication between the two groups.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a field of study directly related to the work assignment and one year of professional experience in the occupational field or specialized subject area of the work assigned to the job.

SUBSTITUTION: A combination of work experience in the occupational field or specialized subject area of the work assigned to the job, which provided the same kind, amount and level of knowledge acquired in the required education, may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the bachelor's degree. A master's or doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a field directly related to the assignment may substitute for the required education and experience. Part-time experience will be prorated. The required experience must be clearly noted in the duty statements on your application to be considered for this position.
